121 – Film & TV Cameos: Drew Barrymore’s Surprise Screen Appearances

Here's our little like one of our many like list episodes that we're working on.

Thing I love these like definitive list episodes that we do definitive hopefully we we already had realized we missed a couple and had to scramble to add them at the last minute and are. So definitive. So definitive now. It's definitive hopefully for this moment right now, as far as we know. Yeah. All right, So for the top of the episode, we've got some tidbits. It looks like what you got here. Well, I do want to follow up. So when I listen back to our last episode, I feel like I was a little hyperbolic about Drew and Jade's relationship because I was like Jade being Drew's mom, if you guys don't know.

1:37 I said like, oh, since 1992, they haven't even spoken. I think I made like a very broad statement like that. And then, of course, it like came back to haunt me. I just kept thinking about it like, that was so not true. Ashley, why did you say that? So you're like, I need to clear this up, Yeah. So I just want to say, you know, aside from the Tom Green era of like late was late 2001 where she actually like did spend time with Jade. Aside from that, we do know that they had like always occasionally corresponded throughout the years via like letters or calls or texts like very.

2:15 Sporadic or. Yeah, sporadic and not in person, but we do know of a few moments that they were photographed together. In 2006, Jade attended that really cool photo gallery. I think it was almost even like a charity auction of Drew's photography from Africa for Marie Claire. And then also in 2011, they were photographed on Mother's Day alongside Will Kopelman. So they've definitely seen each other a few times. I don't think they've ever met Drews like Drew's daughters have ever met Jade. It doesn't sound that way from how she's spoken.

2:54 That's. Wild. Yeah, it is crazy. So anyway, I just wanted to be like a little more clear, a little more honest and specific. But yeah, they they don't have like the traditional mother daughter relationship, no matter how you want to look at. It right, right, right. If you're a regular listener, you probably like know what we meant and all that. But also we talk about Jade a lot. Like it's a such AI mean it's a heat. I mean, you talk about Drew's history and that's such a huge part of her formative life as her relationship with her mom.

3:25 So I think it's important to clear it up. Let's just do a little bit of celebrating at the end of this before we get into Drew Love's. It's the 20th anniversary of the Drewzium on January 15th. Oh my gosh. So the Drewzium is our fan site, you guys that we created and open the doors January 15th, 2006 and that is just crazy. We're the longest running Drew fan site on the Internet. Also 20 years. It's like what? It's a long time that we've dedicated to this little project of our yeah. I'd say so. And that also like it puts us in almost like 30 years as fans when you like, think about it.

It comes from our little effort and hearts many years coming. OK, so should we get into what Drew has proclaimed her love for? I love, love. Yeah, we got a great list this week. OK, Drew loves Christmas ornaments. OK. Snacking. Oh, me too.

4:38 Treats. Me too. She also loves civics and planning and neighborhood stuff. That's funny, I know. She loves a mayonnaise and lettuce sandwich. Yeah, I know. But also I'm like, well I love like a mustard lettuce cheese sandwich so who am I to judge? I'll just eat mustard cheese all day long. Mustard cheese, mustard cheese. So like, yeah. She loves reading the news. OK. A box cake. OK. Egg whites. OK. OK, I love this one. She loves a crooked label that's been done by hand. That's so cute, wasn't it?

5:20 Like a small business on her show? It's like. Salsa maybe? Yeah. Yeah. She loves when she sees men in touch with their emotions. Aww. And then finally, Drew loves a body of work, which, you know, is kind of what we're over here celebrating every time we release an. Episode that's true. We specifically love Drew's body of work. Yeah. All right, OK, so we have something kind of fun for the kind comments corner, so let's get into it so. Sweet. I thought this was really cool. I think we both separately said that we loved Jamie Lee Curtis's appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show a couple weeks ago, and Jamie really seems to understand Drew.

6:04 Like what she says here. I was like, oh, she gets it. Like this is really cool. Like, deeply gets it, so let's hear it. That my mom really wanted me to have, thank God, childhood, which I understand you didn't get. You didn't get that option. No, I didn't and people didn't step in and say no, she will have a childhood. She will have protection. Yes, exactly. And I understand and you are here on your compassion comfort couch care, doing this, leaning in to people with your puppy. And you've manifested now a life of compassion, care and leaning in partly because you didn't get it.

6:49 And you get to give it as a gift to other people. That's so sweet. It's so perfect. And you can see Drew like, during, up during it because she's like, oh, yeah, no wonder I want to make a safe place for other people. It wasn't given to me like. You know, I always appreciate I've talked about it for like, Drew's journey as her own, but it it's hard for me to hear her blame herself for her childhood. You know, she does it a lot. So it's nice to hear her kind of agree. Like, yeah, no one was looking out for me and making sure I was safe.

7:20 Right. And how could she have known in in the time that was her childhood? That's the reality she knew, except for she knew like she didn't have the white picket fence and that her family was non traditional, but how could she have known like how much that her specific childhood and her career impacted her? It's so lovely that she can have this show where she basically gets to have like therapy sessions, like totally, Oh my gosh, you know, like it's beautiful. So yay. We're glad that it brought her to where it brought her to, but sad that she had to go through it, right.

7:50 So thanks, Jamie Lee Curtis, beautifully, beautifully said. Let's go back in time a little bit. What did you pull for this week and drew history? OK, it's not that long ago, but I pulled it because I feel like you're going to really like the look and I do too and there's plenty to talk about with it. So January 8th, 2017, Drew attended the Golden Globes and this was her final time attending those as of now. I would love to the hope that she's going to go back because she actually went so many years, but this was our last one.

8:29 She wore a silver and white Monique. Lulia, I believe, is how you say it. I think it is Lulia, probably, yeah. Gown she's frequently worn that designer on the red carpet and she was styled by Lee Harris and I found some cool quotes from him that he gave to people. OK, so, Lee said. We are both drawn to what we saw as a vintage Art Deco quality in the gown and the special detailing of the bare shoulder and pleated sleeve. There's also another note. It says it was Drew's idea to load up on Harry Winston jewels to bring a bunch of jewelry and says in the end, Drew wore an incredible array of seven exquisite diamond rings and the most incredible pair of flawless diamond earrings.

9:10 The dress is stunning. I love the description of Art Deco quality cuz it looks like a building. It looks like the art Empire State Building, you know, like it is. Yeah. So it's beautifully Art Deco. Absolutely stunning. I love it. I want to sort of want to look at what other dresses by that designer she's worn just to like when I know memory. Right off the top of my head, the also Golden Globes when she was pregnant with Frankie that had like the hearts. So cute. Like flower petals. And I want to say her SAG awards from 2010, that dark blue 1 when she won for Grey Gardens.

9:45 I think that one too. But I think there's even more. Very nice, but it's a beautiful dress. I love the look and there's more to say about it, which is kind of cool. Like you said, there's some other details. Yeah, so on the red carpet, Drew was quoted as saying. I was in New York in the snowstorm last night because I wanted to maximize my time with my children and I was literally going like nail biting. I have a job to do, but I chose to be a parent first. My karma. We got on the plane and JetBlue got me right here and it was all good.

10:13 I was playing with my kids all day. That's really sweet. I love that. I love when she talks about her ability to juggle her like family and work like. Hard. Yeah, totally. It's also fun to note that she attended with her Flower Films family, Nancy Javonen, Chris Miller and and Mason Hughes, who was one of her assistants at the time. So it's really neat that we have a picture of them together. Like we have so few of like her with her team, you know, like. It's it's so. Neat. I don't know. I always appreciate seeing those.

10:44 And also Speaking of cool pictures. So Jimmy Fallon was the host, so it makes sense that Nancy was on hand. Yeah. And he apparently hired this company called Photomatica to set up a photo booth, like a vintage one on the red carpet and cool some really cute pictures of Drew posing and that. And she signed it, too. I've like found a picture, all the people that went in signed it. So that's cool. I love a photo booth. Like love always doesn't always and forever. Yeah. And I love that it's such a thing at like weddings now.

11:14 Like every wedding I go to, I've got like a photo strip. Yes, not the Golden Globes, but you know, so one other fun thing about this event is that they were, at the time promoting the first season of Santa Clarita Diet. So Timothy Olyphant and Drew presented the best television series, comedy or musical, and best actress in a television series, comedy or musical. So it was neat to see them, you know, on stage presenting together when the show would be premiering a few weeks later. So that's really.

11:40 Exciting. And then during the actual broadcast, the very first commercial for Santa Clarita Diet aired. So that's nice job marketers. Yeah. And the marketing for that, we got to cover that show obviously, but the marketing for that show is brilliant and it. Was the commercial where it like kind of looks like a diet ad, you know? Oh, it's so. Good. It's like a blender bottle with like fingers in it and shit right? Full of blood. Anyway, really fun, beautiful look. Great Paul, I think that's a good, that's a good choice.

12:09 OK, a little bit more before we get into the topic and let's talk about what's new with Drew. Here we go with the news, everybody. OK, we don't have too much because sort of similar to summer, during the holidays, Drew also kind of disappears into hibernation. But we do want to report that there were these two surprise New Hollywood Square episodes that aired for the holidays. They are technically Season 2 episodes, 1:00 and 2:00. So that was like out of nowhere and super exciting. Did you get a chance to watch it?

12:41 I did. Yeah, I did. I loved them. I mean, if you guys haven't heard us rave about how much we love the maybe a season of Hollywood Squares, like we're loving it. Yeah, it's so enjoyable. Did we know that there was gonna be holiday episodes? No. Okay, I didn't think so. Surprise. Yeah. So she's got a great kind of festive look in them. Yeah. And then like before, we like to pull the little bonus round facts. So they go around and the contestant has to say if this is like true or false about each of the stars.

13:10 So, well, I want to read Drew's 'cause they were both pretty funny. So the first episode it was that her middle name is Kitten. I'm so glad the person didn't think it was right. I pulled the speaker to my ear and hit rewind. Like, did I hear that right, kitten? Yeah. Yeah, and then the second episode, it was Drew designed a handbag called the Carry More. It's just. Very clever. It's very clever. Like, it does seem like possible. I feel like the person on the show like thought it was true. I got it wrong.

13:42 Drew was probably like, wait, why didn't I do that? In the Dear Drew line, it almost got. Me, yeah, yeah, I was like, no, but that's smart. Like it's. Cute, but regular episodes will start airing on January 7th, and they've already like released press about that one and the January 14th episode, so we have a lot of fun to look forward to. So we want to like kind of set the guidelines for this. So a cameo is technically a small character part in a, you know, player show or whatever and it's played by a distinguished actor or celebrity. So these all have to be like post Drew's fame, right? The point is like for it to count Barrymore and we're only listing ones that are like, you know, less than 3 minutes.

15:39 We're not doing small parts or like guest appearances on TV shows where she like, you know, is throughout the whole episode. Like these are really like very quick. There she is, and she's gone kind of appearances. Right, right. So just a side note, because they sort of fit into the cameo sort of realm, we released a whole episode talking about music videos that she's appeared in on episode 25, which crazy how many episodes ago that was always shocked anyway, so if you want to hear us talk about music videos, it's got this whole own thing.

16:09 She's in a ton. So it's. Really exciting, mostly. Mostly cameos too, so that's fun. Totally. And it's funny because when I Googled, I was like, I'm just going to Google like Drew Barrymore cameo. The first thing that it mentions many times is Sizza's video for her song. That's a perfect example, yeah. Talk about a blink and you'll. Miss it right, so that one comes up tons of times. So anyway, we're not talking about music videos here. You know, movie and TV other stuff, but definitely check out the music videos episode.

16:34 We go through a lot of fun stuff in that one. All right, so let's begin. We're in 1985 with the release of Amazing Stories. She plays a character girl on train No name. It's the very first episode called Ghost Train. It was directed by Steven Spielberg, so no big surprise that she ended up there. She has no dialogue in this. Also in the episode is Lucas Haas, who would later play Drew's brother. And see you in the morning. And everyone says I love you. So that's a fun little tidbit, I know. It's so funny, like, you don't think of him as like one of her frequently worked with people.

17:11 But right there it is. I made a cute little picture of like them from each of the productions and put. I'll put it in the gallery for this episode. I love it. But yeah, this is like, talk about a blink and you'll miss it. Like, this train pulls up with all these ghostly, like, looking people in it, and then it's gone. Like, it's 2 seconds. And so you really have to know Drew is there to even catch her. But again, we'll have a screenshot in our episode gallery if you guys aren't familiar with this one.

17:40 Yeah. OK. Next up we have Motorama. It was released in 1993, but it was filmed in late 90, early 91. So Drew's quite young in it and she plays fantasy girl and not for the last time is she playing fantasy girl.

18:00 So Drew literally is playing like a girl in this kids dream and she is on a beach and she's wearing like a bikini and a lay and she's just calling out to the main character in his dream about Motorama, this game that he's trying to win.

18:18 You won. Come on in. Come on in, Gus. You won What? You did it, Gus. What's that, Gus? You haven't won yet. Oh my God, it's so good. It always gets stuck in my head. You haven't. Won, yet I don't remember the the rest of it at all, so it's it's also fun to revisit that little blip. Totally. But that so like, why is she in this weird movie? It's full of cameos. This movie, it's like hilarious. But it was produced by Donald P Borchers, who had done Far From Home a couple years before this. And then he also did Doppelganger.

19:02 So I think he was just kind of like, you know, trying to give Drew some work at this time in her life. And she was gladly taking it. Yes, she was trying to get her career back on track. Yeah, perfect fantasy girl. Yeah. Okay, so another weird one guys. Wax work 2 Lost in time. What is wax work one? No idea. So it's from 1992 and Drew plays vampire victim again, no name. Drew appeared in a very short scene with her friend Hadria Loner, who wasn't an actress but came along, which is so funny like she just had to bring a friend along.

19:36 Her friend Brent Bullhouse also appeared in the film. Apparently it's so random. Never seen the whole thing of you. No, I have the VHS tape. Me too. Maybe I've watched it, I'm not sure. Drew has no dialogue in this either, and it's said that she was called kind of last minute by the director to come film in a mall at midnight, so they just like, needed someone to fill in. She looks gorgeous. It's black and white. I she's. Beautiful. She's like a Nosferatu victim and it looks like, you know, old timey movie, black and white.

20:09 Do you think she's wearing a wig? Oh. She's too much hair I feel like but. I don't know. I don't know either, maybe they didn't have a budget for a wig so maybe not Probably not if they're literally filming it like they set up in a mall like this. Bedrooms. But also, like, her hair looks kind of like curled, like who goes? I don't know. I can't tell you. We're lucky we know anything about this. The only reason we do is because when Gayle King came on her show a couple years ago and was doing behind the scenes, but for Drew, she picked, like, some really random movies.

20:43 And I was like, yes, GAIL, and this was one of them. So that's how we know anything. Yeah. Yeah. Totally. We've mentioned this one a couple of times recently because this was a very new discovery for us. And this is just a voice cameo. It's a documentary about abortion called Roots of Roe. It was released in 93, and apparently it was kind of like repackaged and released again in late 96 or early 97. I just found something like that. It's kind of weird, but all that we get from Drew is that she reads a portion of a letter that like a real letter that was written to Margaret Sanger, who is the founder of Planned Parenthood.

21:20 Dear Missus Sanger, I'm afraid I'm pregnant again. If I was sure I would commit suicide. Very random. There's a couple other I think, like Sharon Stone and Brooke Shields also do voices. So I don't know how this happened, why, but it's a. It's got to be included. Yeah. And it's the first of a couple voice cameos we'll go over. So we're kind of covering that as well. Here's a little bit bigger one. We've definitely talked about this for this before. So Wayne's World Two released in 1993. Drew plays Bjergen, Kiergan.

21:54 We just raved about this because we did the 1993 year in review. So you can hear us talk about it there, but we'll tell some details here. Let's listen to the scene. Hi, we're here to see Handsome Dan. My name is Wayne Campbell. Yeah, I know. We've been expecting. You've been Campbell. I am Bjergen Kiergan. Wow. I love your accent. Where are you from? From speeding. Oh really? Whereabouts in Sweden? Near again? Near the Bjergen fiords. It's so cute. It's so cute. It's it's, it's like really adorable.

22:27 She just looks so dreamy. Might as well be called fantasy girl in this one right now. Just. She looks, yeah, really. And she's just this, like receptionist at a radio station that Wayne and Garth are going to. And not the last time she'll do a receptionist cameo either, so. Stay tuned. Take this next fact because I love the the fact that I asked you a question about this and that you're like kind of like assumed and then you were able to confirm it, right? Yeah, so we talked about this before, but just in case you guys didn't hear.

22:55 So and just like randomly one day was like, why was she in Wayne's World too? And I was like, I don't really know, Maybe the DVD will hold the answer. And it did. So I like put it on like that day, like as soon as I got home. And there's a little featurette where Lorne Michaels says it was his idea to include her because he was really big fan of. But he didn't know if they could get her, which is just like, we're we crack up at that idea. Yeah. She loves SNL. She wasn't in the peak of her career or anything.

23:26 Right. And then he just kind of credits that Mike Myers and his wife, Robin, like, worked their magic to make it happen. So we were laughing. Like they picked up the phone and made one of those charming calls that Drew always makes. Yeah, yeah, so cool. I love knowing this because, yeah, when when my partner asked me why she was in it, I was like, because she's famous. I was like, because she's through Barrymore and it made sense. But also, like you said, she wasn't at a peak of her career. It is a cameo.

23:53 I was very more but. She was very much like a sex symbol at this time. And I think she's supposed to be super hot in this role, and she is. I mentioned before, see a lot of comments that this was like a sexual awakening for a lot of people. Like she was so hot in this part, you know? It's so funny. Yeah, it's great. One more little tidbit to note about this is that in 2023, Drew played a character with the same name in the EW. How they do it. Yeah, yeah, yeah. In the EU skit on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, it's really silly.

24:33 Like, it doesn't seem at all like the character. She's just doing, like, a vaguely Swedish accent with that name. If you haven't seen that, that skit of Jimmy, like, playing a teenage girl with braces and a blonde wig, you have to. It's really funny. Yeah. We'll link to this exact one. I remember when I first watched it, I was like, did he call her Bjergen Kiergen? But he, like, doesn't pronounce it right. But if you turn on the subtitles, it doesn't say it. Yeah, yeah. So that's just fun. We probably talked about this when it happened.

25:03 Yeah, because I remember us talking about, I'm like 2023. We had the pod bite on. Good little Easter egg. Yeah. OK, so next we have, and we also talked about this recently, the very strange, independent, mildly released movie Inside the Goldmine. So Drew plays a character named Daisy. She's in a very short scene and she's basically just like, it almost sounds like she's in a cult and she's trying to get the main character to like join up. Like she meets him at a flea market and she's like talking up.

25:35 Oh no, you should come to our meetings or whatever. This is Daisy. Daisy, This is Emily. Emily is Daisy. What were you just? Tell you should both come down. I mean really, it would be great for both of you. Tell her about it. You just seem like you're such pain inside of you. What is it? It's it's a place and it's just you. It cleanses everything about you and you learn all these things and we do activities and you know. Daisy, call your dad. You're in a cult. Yeah, exactly. Also the name Daisy, how could that not be?

26:04 Like she gave it to herself or a friend of hers gave it to her like. I mean, she's wearing her own clothes. It almost, this feels very improvised, like it's almost like, hey, will you come in and you can do whatever you want at the. Scene totally. I bet we could find this location too because of. The way like I've been very interested, it gives like such an LA look, right? Like, Oh my God. I feel like I've driven past this or something so. Much so, so much so. So we don't know, like, why she did this.

26:31 The only connection I could ever find was that the writer director was also at the premiere of the movie Sliver in 1993, where Drew was attending it. And that was like probably close to this time. And he also went to that with his girlfriend at the time, Natasha Gregson Wagner, who's also in the film. And I've like, randomly discovered that Natasha was at a lot of the same events as Drew in the early 90s. So I don't know if that means anything, but it's just like, why? Those are the connections you've been able anything.

27:02 I can get any scrap to make it make sense cuz it's supposed to be a horrible movie. I've never watched the whole thing. No, I have not either. I I don't think so. Part of me was like, do I need to watch all these movies to talk about the cameos? And it's like, no, we can't put ourselves through that. Just the five second scenes are good. The last little thing to note about this is that she is, like I said, wearing her own shirt, and she also wears it in the Face magazine shoot. It's the March 1994 issue that she did with Ellen Von Unworth.

27:32 And in the like magazine credits it says like shirt Drew zone or something like that. We've also seen, like from Drew's personal photo archive, a really cute picture of her wearing it. So. We love the wardrobe recycles. And then when they end up in a movie, it's it's extra cool. Why? In a weird way, I don't know. It's just fun. It's just fun to trace it when like things crossover from her personal life to her professional life. It's like, hey. That's how I have something to say about that in a in a little bit too.

27:58 Something I feel like was very her own wardrobe. Cool. OK, so another cameo we've got is from 1996 on Bill Nye the Science guy, the incredible science TV show, which if you're not familiar with it, like Bill Nye's great. Anyway, she's herself. The episode is called Flowers, and she's got her black hair. Oh my God. Dreamy, dreamy, dreamy she's. So gorgeous. She's so gorgeous and I think it comes through even in the dialogue, like, I don't know, it's really cute. So let's, let's hear. Oh, oh, hi, Drew.

28:30 Oh, hi, Phil. Wow, these flowers are such flirt. Yeah. Oh, I'm serious. I mean, look at these daisies and Williams. Their colors were screaming. Look at me, play with me. Come get my pollen. Come get my pollen. My intro to this was the clips that they interspersed in biorhythm, MTV biorhythm and that's the part that they showed. Play with me. Come get my pollen. So cute, like I don't even know what else we can say about it. I think it's perfect that it's the episode on flowers. Yes, I know, it's so great.

29:03 She looks lovely. Like, if nothing else, if you're not coming to the Cameo episode gallery page for anything, at least come see Bill Nye. It's so cute. We just can't get enough of the black hair. So true. Then a couple years later, back on TV, she appeared on The Larry Sanders Show in a 1998 episode called Putting the Gay Back in Litigation. It's a really clever episode title. She plays herself. And basically the premise is The Larry Sanders Show is like a fictional talk show and it's ending. And so they have Drew do this little video for the host, and Jeffrey Tambor is filming it.

29:40 He's like the cameraman and then he starts being really inappropriate and being like, OK, now it's time to like lift up your top. Isn't that your whole shtick like with Letterman? And she gets pretty mad at him. So show your tits what? Well, you know, like you did on on. Letterman, you know, little whoopty doodle. What the fuck are you talking about? I thought that was like your shtick, you know, like I do. Hey now, you're a pig and I feel really sorry for you. Again, similar to something else that's coming up where she's like what the fuck are you talking about?

30:15 One other thing I want to say about it is that I think she's wearing her Otter Pops. Watch that. I just read an article from 98 where she's talking about it and she said that she had been on, I think today, like the Today show, talking about how she loved Otter Pops and then they sent this to her and it was like so meaningful to her. I think she wears it to the Kids Choice Awards in 98 too. That seems like it fits. Too. She really liked it at this time. That's adorable. That's so adorable. It kind of looks like her own clothes too in this, in a weird like 98 boring beige way.

30:50 Totally. I agree. So next is our second appearance of Drew as fantasy girl. Different film, skipped parts from the year 2000. I don't know what to say about this movie. I don't really even know like what it was about or anything. It's. Weird. Have you never seen it? I think I have, but I don't remember it well. OK, so it's basically about like a teenage boy in the 60s, I think, who like decides he wants to have sex. And it's like all about that. But he keeps having these fantasies of Drew, which is a little weird because she's definitely way too old for him And right.

31:29 But the scenes with her are so cute. Like her styling and the like 60s look is really really cute. Here's a little clip of that. My mom won't be home for another 20 minutes. Do you want to do me again? Sam Callahan has a real way with women. I want to have your baby. We all want to have your baby.

31:52 So awkward. And yeah, I just, I just love that Drew is fantasy girl again. And she like, once again has like voluminous blonde hair. Like there's something so familiar. And it's like in a young boys dream. Yeah, they're very similar to Motorama. The film was directed by Tamara Davis, who's a good friend of Drew's. She had lived with her at one point when she was a teen. She had directed Gun Crazy. She did the parts of bad girls that weren't used, unfortunately, and then she directed Best Men. She later did an episode of Santa Clarita Diet also, which I totally blanked on.

Freddie got fingered, and I have a lot to say about this one that I kept like, I'm like, oh, we'll get to that. We'll get to that. So this is from 2001. Drew plays Davidson's receptionist, which Davidson is a character played by Anthony Michael Hall.

It was written and directed by her then partner Tom Green. In case for some reason you don't know what Freddie got fingered is, Oh my God, going through trying to find her clip. So I was like scanning other parts of the movie. Yeah. It was a lot, that movie. Is rough, Yeah. You don't know Tom Green's humor. You might not realize how awkward it probably is.

33:30 It's true. So I finally found it. It's free. The whole movie is free to watch on this website called Plex. I finally found the scene. And the one with her is actually really cute. Like, you know, he kind of breezes past the front desk because he's trying to get, I think like his drawings to this guy. And she's sort of falling down the hall, like who are you? And he ends up telling her that that he has to find that guy because that guy's wife died. And she gets very upset and she's really sad. And then he tries to ask her out and then she's again kind of like Larry Sanders.

And, and there's really cute behind the scenes footage of them during the credits. There's like 2 little parts. Like there's one that's like when the credits are rolling and then after every credit has gone by, the whole screen fills up with this last little segment of them, like goofing off in front of the and then kissing.

So in Scream 5, which was released in 2022, Drew has a voice cameo as the school principal. And it's very just subtle. Dude, that's. Right, let's, let's hear it. I can't say cancer A. So the the quote that we have from the executive producer, Chad Viella, probably Viea, he said. Drew is the principal making announcements at the beginning of the movie when the camera pans down from the tree to find our new cast at the picnic tables. So it's almost like introducing the new cast. It's got like her at the beginning.

37:28 The scene also plays out right after Tara, played by Jenny Ortega, is attacked in the opening sequence, just like Drew's Casey in the original Scream. Which is fun. OK so I didn't know this because I just popped into my head. So when I first heard that she had a voice cameo, I thought I knew what it was because this is like the absolute scream nerd in me who gets like so pedantic and dorky about stuff. But there's a part of the movie where Jack Quaid's character is watching on his phone, Stab, which is the movie within a movie.

38:02 And instead of playing the audio from Stab, which they actually have like scenes where Heather Graham is playing Drew's character right, they play audio when Drew's of Drew. Like when she gets. Stabbed in the movie and I recognized it right away, of course. And I'm like, that makes no sense. Like you wouldn't be watching that. You would be watching the movie, movie that exists in the universe, but you know. That's such a funny Easter egg. Also like why would they do that? It bothers me so much. There's a lot of.

Like, I don't understand. I don't get it. Yeah. OK, to wrap up, we also have a handful of cameos that Drew's done in recent years as herself hosting the Drew Barrymore Show.

It's a Netflix movie starring Brooke Shields that's called A Castle for Christmas. I briefly watched this clip. It's available on Netflix, and it's Brooke Shields character. I think she's like an author just going on Drew's show quickly to talk about her book. And then there is a short film from 2023 called Jackpot that was written by a former Drew Barrymore Show writer, Christina Keenan.

I think this this guy comes and brings like a platter of food out and he's really hunky and there's all these like awkward like sexual innuendos that are like sad.

The final one that we've got here for cameos is Smile 2. I don't know anything about it. I know it's a horror film. It was released in 2024 and 1 of the characters comes on the Drew Barrymore show and is interviewed in the film. Do you know anything else about it? I know she's playing like a pop star, OK. And yeah. And surprising, I mean, like in a fun little thing, it's Naomi Scott, and she played one of the Charlie's Angels in the Elizabeth reboot.

Like it feels like Wayne's World 2 is like like yeah V Drew Barrymore cameo.

I mean, that's what we really won. Well, you know, it hasn't come back up in a really long time. But we do have this sneaking suspicion that she did this movie that Jonah Hill filmed with Cameron Diaz last summer, I think it was. Do you remember this? Because the actor Matt Bomer, I think, is his name. He came on and he's like, oh, yeah, we just filmed this thing together.
