Shut up, Jesus. I've been told I I laugh very loudly and and often. So yeah. I mean, same. I think this is something we have in common. All right, so let's before we get into our new summer series. Our sexy summer series Saxophone sexy. Yes, let's just kind of look at the stuff at the top. What do we have up here that's like kind of cool and exciting? Kind of wild. We have like some new discoveries. This is one thing we talk about every once in a while with you guys that we have been Drew Barrymore historians for.

We're coming up on like 30 years at this point. Let's just start rounding up like Druid and we still managed to be surprised by things or find out about, quote UN quote, new things that are old. So we've had two really neat discoveries since we last recorded. We wanted to share them with you guys. We will put links to these on the episode page. All of our episodes have a page on how do you drew.com that you can go check out, but let's get into these. Yeah. So, OK, so it's funny that like for this first one, this footage of Drew, she's reading a poem.

It's it's kind of like a comedic. Story It's almost like a stand up routine or. Something. Yeah. And she's talking about her family and it's at Cafe Largo in December of 1989, which alone like that's like kind of so wild that that's when she's there, like I. Don't know. My gosh, totally. I. Don't know, it's just such a crazy time in her life and it was found by Drew Barrymore Daisy, which we have to talked about this account before. Yeah, and they especially seem to have like a real knack for finding footage or posting footage.

They have a great YouTube with a lot of videos of Drew. So anyway, thanks to them for finding this. And we knew that she like, quote UN quote, performed or did poetry at Cafe Largo because there was this feature in movie Line in 1990. It was called like the faux Bohemians or something like that. And they like had an actually did like a photo with Drew and talked to her about this. So I knew this was a thing, but to actually never would watch her perform number two. I was kind of blown away by this.

Performance. It's it is like weirdly professional, right? So funny and so funny and like, really like taking the piss out of herself in a really funny way. Let's listen to it a little bit. Yeah, it's kind of long, so you guys have to go watch the full thing, but we'll we'll put a couple of little moments in here. My great grandfather was Maurice Mcfarrymore, A respected actor and drunk who died in the gutter. My great uncle was Lionel Barrymore who left a legacy of films which will be remembered for all time and a drunk who died in the gutter.

My great aunt Ethel Barrymore was the first lady of the theatre and a role model for all actresses who came after her. Who died in the gutter. Well wait, that doesn't sound right. It sounds like I'm saying all actresses who came after Ethel Barrymore died in the gutter. That's not true. My great aunt died in the gutter without any other actresses. My grandfather, John Barrymore, known to moviegoers as a great profile, is still considered one of the greatest English speaking actors of all time. OK, guess where he died.

Say it with me in the gutter.

So yeah, it just, it goes on and there's a little bit about her like parents. Yeah, but it's stuff about her parents is pretty wild. Like the thing about her dad, like she says like that he can now borrow money from his friends like her and her brother. Like, yes, that was so real and so funny. And then? It's a big laugh. Oh yeah, And then the stuff about her mom, I do like that one point. She's like, I love my mother. Yes. I'd like to say she was the perfect role model. Mom. Of course, I'd like to say Firestarter made $100 million and I'm sitting pretty for life.

But neither of those things are true. You know what I got out of Firestarter? A big plush sofa. You know what I got out of my mom? Someone. Somebody to lie on it in white all day. I love my mother. That's right. So. Like, just like, she's 14, almost 15 here, right? I know, yeah. She's actually she's not even emancipated yet. Which is wild. Wow, that is wild. So it's really so cool. I think Cafe Largo just always has like recorded their stuff, like because that's kind of, I mean, Cafe Largo is such a cool place.

It's now in a different location than it was before, but I've been to a bunch of shows of a new location. But I feel like that's kind of a thing is that they have footage like a lot. And they might have done a documentary anyway. Oh wow, that's amazing. Anyway, you guys go check this out. It is a very, very unique thing to see her doing. And like, she killed it. So good job, Drew. And it's it's, yeah, it's fun. Like I. It's really fun. It's really fun. It's yeah. So it's so fun and to be able to surprise us.

Oh, yeah. So Speaking of surprising us, so I don't know where I ended up. You know, I go on these little journeys on the Internet. And it was like, oh, let me take you through Drew Barrymore's filmography. And of course, I'm going to it with this like, ha, ha, ha. We'll see about this attitude. And then I see this thing under 1993 that says the roots of Roe. I'm like, what the hell is this? So I start looking into it. OK guys, this is legit. So there was a documentary about abortion again. It's called the Roots of Roe from 1993.

Don't ask me how, don't ask me why. There was a couple other people who also did this, but Drew reads like 2 lines from a like historical letter that some woman wrote to a female doctor or a female somebody important who I'm not coming up with the name of right now, someone important in the history of abortion. But so she reads this little line. I have no idea why I was shocked to my core to hear something new like this. Dear Misses Sanger, I'm afraid I'm pregnant again. If I was sure I would commit suicide.

Crazy how it's so crazy. And a bunch of different people did like voiceover. There's like 4. OK, that's so cool. Yeah. Amazing. So we'll link to that as well. I did not watch the full thing, but I was just like so amazed to hear something new that she had done technically acting I guess, right? And like never knew about it. That's so cool I don't even know what to say about it cuz this I know I don't know. This is why we love to do what we do because like, finding something new like this is just like, so exhilarating.

It's that's the historian part of us. That's like. Totally. Oh my God. Putting together pieces, always happy to put. Together pieces and also like that little clip probably was done pretty close to the time of the thing that we're covering this week. So it all goes. Together 'cause you said it came out when 93. OK, all right, so we actually have some mail this week and I peeked at it and it's very, very sweet. So let's go into our mailbox and check out what we've got. You've got mail. And this is about our 1995 Lollapalooza in Vancouver post that we put up like a week or so ago. So they said she's always been that girl, the coolest girl and the kindest heart in the room. Like so sweet. It's just like so perfect. I love it because it really does like sum up, you know, she is so like freaking cool in 95, but also like she's always been a sweetheart and it's just.

Perfect. Like she's always had this like warmth to her. Like no matter how cool she is, she never was like felt like she was above anybody or. Often like she was. Above anybody. So yeah, she's just like that for real, you guys like. It's weird. Did you guys know that we like her? Did you know? I mean, if you're here and you didn't know that, like I don't know how you got here, that would be really weird. This is not like this is the Drew Barrymore love fest over here. OK, so we have a couple little things to talk about up here.

So let's talk about what's going on. Do you want to hit the headline? What's new with Drew? OK, what's new with Drew? So I still didn't really figure out exactly why this happened, but Drew once again put on her Megan costume. Megan the movie Robot Killer Robot and this time she was walking around Hollywood Blvd. dressed as Megan. It, it doesn't make any sense. She's like just promoting the new Megan film. And there's like a little clip that was, was it on social media where they had her like calling, what's her name, Allison?

Oh, yes. Allison Williams. Yeah. And I know Drew freaked her out with the costume. On the TV show. Anyway, so it's very confusing, but people right away recognize that it's her. And then she had sitting on her star on the Walk of Fame, and it's like. I know that made me happy to see. For some reason, I always really enjoy when she's by the star. Probably because we were there the day she got it. Probably what it is. But yeah, I think she was. I think she really wanted to, like, fool people. I didn't think she wanted to be recognized.

And everyone recognized her right away. And she's just like, what again? She doesn't know she's Drew Barrymore. Yeah, she doesn't realize that she has like, a very, very recognizable face, no matter how small your stature is, Drew. Yeah, and. Voice how how like white your like eyeballs look with the Megan thing going on. The contacts falling out. It just seemed like what, Yeah, I don't know what that was for. I don't either, but I was just happy to have some new content. Yes. Speaking of new content that's coming up, so we have a little bit of like updates about Hollywood Squares, which we've already said like that's filming.

So like it's been confirmed. So some of the stars that we've seen pop up in various places include Whitney Cummings, Tiffany Haddish, Leslie Jones, Also Tom Bergeron, who was the 90s host of Hollywood Squares. That's fun. Triumph is back, which is really fun. Tom Thomas Lennon, who we also love him. Mark Duplass I don't think was on at all last season, so that's. I don't even know who that is, I just saw his name on the squares. He did. I'm going to blink on what it's called, but like there's one really cool like time travel movie that he did.

I forgot what it's called if I hope I'm right. If not, I'll cut that out. And also Drew has posted a couple of cute videos on set of Hollywood Square. So we're getting like, you know, excited. Yeah, and I did. I didn't tell you this, actually, I think I forgot, But Matthew Kilgore, Drew's Taylor, he actually got to go to LA this time and be on set. Last time he just like got all her stuff ready in New York, but he got to go this time. He said he was having a blast and it was a ton of work. So thanks for letting us know that, Matthew.

That's. So cool to know that they like were able to bring him along to do it. Like, I know I kind of love that. Yeah, that's so cool. All right, you talk about this cool thing with the Drew Barrymore Show celebrating. Oh my gosh, I love this. So the Daytime Emmy nominations came out and the Drew Barrymore Show got their most nominations ever for a total of nine, including outstanding Daytime Talk series and Talk Series host. That's our girl Drew. And then Speaking of Matthew, costume design and styling, got one.

Hair styling and makeup directing. Like there's a whole bunch. I especially liked that the art direction, set direction, scenic design, because we obviously have something to do with that for the birthday episode, considering we provided the entire the entirety of the sets decorations. I can't even talk. We have at least a fraction to do with that like this, you know. So obviously, like we're going to be invited to the Emmys, right? And we'll be getting an award. We're. Going to get one. Yeah, yeah, yeah, guys, we're up for an.

I don't know if you can like. No, I'm just kidding. That's so exciting. Really cool for the show. I mean, I'm so glad that the show is like so well loved and also like in this way as being recognized. That's so cool, get those accolades. I hope Drew wins. Like imagine if she finally won for host. If you've been following the podcast for the last few episodes, we did Batman Forever in which we spoke a lot about the director, Joel Schumacher. And then after that, by coincidence, we did interview 1992, the magazine where Drew is talking about this project. So both these things kind of led us down the road to 2000 Malibu Rd.

Perfect. Thank you. I just did that on the fly. Yes, but also like this was a summer TV show. We're in summer and we could use a little bit of a break. So we're like, this is going to be our half ass break. We're still going to be here. We're still going to be doing episodes, but maybe we won't have to work quite so hard on the research because we're just going to go through all six episodes of 2000 Malibu Rd. over the course of the next few of our episodes. So 2 at a time. So here we'll just be covering the first two.

It was so nice to find that someone had uploaded all six to YouTube literally so recently that it was kind of wild. Like when you found it, it was like less than a week before. I know, which is amazing because I've seen OK, so Speaking of Drew Barrymore, Daisy, they have I think all of the clips of Drew from the show on their YouTube. But and then there's like a Jennifer Beals fan site that has some of the episodes, but for all 6 studio up on YouTube. I don't think this has happened before. So it's kind of amazing timing.

I mean, we've got weird things like this that happened to us also, like, I'm so glad it's available right now. So if you're listening to listen, when this comes out, you'll be able to listen Listen. And watch. You'll do both. Follow along in some some, yeah. And, you know, I was just thinking like, it's kind of crazy to think about the fact this has never been officially released, right? It was never even on video. Forget DVD or streaming. Like, it'll probably never happen. Maybe. I guess never say never.

But the only way we can watch this is relying on the people who recorded it when it aired. Like how crazy is that? So like, how will we ever have access to like a good quality version of this? Probably not. It's. Just gonna be whatever's recorded on like VHS tapes, literally. Truly. And that's like, it makes it very ephemeral in a way. It's like, Oh my God, if this person hadn't hit record on their VCR and then one day it got digitized, like we wouldn't have this. It would be lost so. I'm positive that I probably have at least one footage tape that's got like a couple of the episodes on it.

Me too. Duplicate, Duplicate. Yeah, like so it would have been like. Copy of the copy. And the quality just goes down a little bit every time. So like I feel like maybe watching it on YouTube was like better quality than I remember seeing it before, but still. Could be pretty low, I know, but still so fun, you guys. Definitely. We will link, of course, to the account that's list that's posted all of these and come along with us for the summer. Yes. OK. So it's interesting to think about the fact that this is the only time that Drew was on a TV show, like a regular on a TV show until Santa Clarita Diet, which was in 2017.

Which is also like such a different thing, you know, Like, right, That's like a different era of television in general. Totally. Actually, weren't we just talking about this? I think, yeah, we were like talking. About we were in the last episode. Yes, like the. Well, because of this, I just realized, like, the era of, like, film actors going into TV and vice versa. Yeah. So it just happens to be that Drew didn't do more TV, but this show didn't last. So it makes sense that it didn't make an impact on the TV audience.

Also, this is like almost kind of a new oopsie Daisy. But in our last episode, which is another reason it sent me down this path, was like, we didn't even know when we were talking. Like off the top of our heads, how many episodes there even were. We're like, is there 3? Is there four? We didn't even know. And like, we'd forgotten a lot of stuff. So it was sort of a good excuse to do a little bit of homework on this. And yeah, we're going to set it straight. So now we're coming in with the details and the facts.

Let's start with this first little factoid of a paragraph from IMDb. So now. I love an IMDb description. Yes, so four women share a Malibu beach house. Jade, Lisa Hartman, Black, leaving her past as a sex worker. And then Perry, played by Jennifer Beals, a lawyer running from her history. Lindsay, which is Drew, an aspiring actress, And then Joy, played by Tuesday night. Yes, her name is Tuesday Night, who plays Lindsay's manipulative sister So. My God, so. 2000 Malibu Rd. is the address. Yeah, of the house, which I'm gonna say right here, I've been really, really trying to find where this was filmed, where this house is.

I have not located it yet. It's so distinct looking, but I haven't had any luck. I have asked Lindsay Blake of iamnotastalker.com and everything palmsprings.com to help me out and hopefully when before the series is completed I will have tracked it down so stay tuned on that. Yeah, so it's the address in the show, not the actual real life address that, you know, that'd be too easy. Imagine if someone was like, wait, they just said the address and they can't find it because they didn't know Google Maps is a thing.

I didn't need to like drop Google. I could just say Internet anyway. Here's another way to wrap up the summary of the show I'm. Innocent three women brought together by murder Lisa Hartman Black Drew Barrymore and Jennifer Beals, 2000 Malibu Rd. Next. I like how it says they're brought together by murder. Not not accurate. No. No. No, I mean the only, the only way that is true. I guess I could say we're not really going to get into a lot of the other like storylines other than Drew's, but like it does bring the like lawyer and the person who like is being.

That's true. Fused together like I was thinking, right, This is the part where it's like, oh, they're like bonding now. True, but not all three. That's not the reason they moved there. Yeah, no, not at all. We should also, you know, mentioning the lawyer, we should say Jennifer Beals and Drew would work together three years later when they filmed Wishful Thinking. So that's sort of fun. We always love when there's little reunions like that and they're very like antagonistic of each other and Wishful Thinking thinking.

So it's fun. Like, they don't share a lot of scenes in these first two episodes, but like, there's a cute one in one of the upcoming episodes. And I was like, oh, this is fun. It is fun and I haven't actually watched very much of Jennifer Beals and I was like, she looks exactly like even the hair like she does in Wishful Thinking. Even like the clothes? You're totally right. I. Think she's like a professional in wishful thinking too. I can't remember what she does, but yeah. But I was like, it was weird.

Like, I don't know, I felt like I was watching her in wishful thinking, like. That totally makes sense. I don't know, but it is. So it's so close. Like we said, three years. So I know that's not. It's nothing OK and the show so we're going to get into a little bit of the credits some more of the credits here. It was created by Terry Louise Fisher. There's a couple little like fun facts here 1 is that she's known for Co creating ATV show called LA Law, which it was like she Co created it with someone named Steve Botchko and you've probably heard us talk about Mel Botchko, one of Drew's like really good friends.

That's her dad. So so there was this. It's. A fun little connection, yeah. And then also I was just kind of skimming and found out she passed away literally last month on June 10th of this year. That's. Crazy. That's a little eerie. I'm not gonna lie. Like, I don't know how I missed that when I was doing my research, but it just again, sort of like gives me that this is a perfect time for us to be doing this. But also, like, she didn't really do a lot after this. And so I think it was like a like a blurb on the Wikipedia page.

It was like such a small line. But anyway, rest in peace, Terry Louise Fisher. Yeah. And directed by Joel Schumacher, which mentioned. This is kind of like one of the three lines to. Yeah, I love your movie. So we don't need to get into Joel Schumacher very much, but of course the connection to Drew was Batman Forever later. The backwards connection, we have a lot of Joel Coats coming up in a second. So stay tuned for that cuz he's he's a man of wonderful words I gotta say. Yes, he is. And it was produced by Fisher and Schumacher, Aaron Spelling and E Duke Vincent and Aaron Spelling was a big, big deal in TV at the time.

Like Charlie's Angels. Yeah, there you go. 90210 The Heights, starring Drew's them boyfriend Jamie Walters. Melrose Place. I mean, those are off the top of my head. I know there's way more than that. He's like TV legend, right? Yep, so huge deal for Drew to have been involved in this. Yeah, yeah, it's kind of cool.

All right, so let's talk a little bit as to how Drew got involved. And again, we're going to come right back to Joel Schumacher. So approximately ultimately February 92, she got a phone call from Joel convincing her to join him in an unlikely project, which was a TV series. And she'd known him for years and trusted him. And of course we have the story that we talked about in our Batman Forever episode where she approached him as like a 7 year old and just he just thought she was so cute and sweet.

And they just stayed very friendly. And then supposedly Schumacher suggested Drew for the role to Terry Louise Fisher. Terry said Drew was somebody that Joel said grab her. So they, like Joel knew, like, let's get Drew Barrymore in this weird little project. That's cool. So you pulled a long quote here that we taught that we probably read something. In our last episode. In our last episode, but it's definitely worthwhile here. So yeah, Drew said I was closed off to the idea of TV and tell director and executive producer Joel Schumacher started telling me about 2000 Malibu Road.

And I read the first two episodes. Hey, which we're going over today. Back to the quote. Our writer is Terry Louise Fisher, who writes women so well. I play a struggling actress who comes from the Midwest with my sister. Through the course of the series, I become one of the most famous stars in the world, and my sister becomes the biggest agent in Hollywood. Usually when you watch TV, you see everybody's going farther and farther downhill, but in this series, they get better. We have yet to see this.

By the way, yeah, and spoiler alert, I don't think we are ever going to see this before the show gets cancelled. But it sounds like that was the intention. Yeah, so a couple other things Drew said about this part. She says a lot of the respect I have for my character in 2000 Malibu Rd. is that she doesn't take shit and she speaks her mind, which is very much like me. And then she also says my character is a Hollywood wannabe who is very trusting for me to play. This is very cleansing and I thought that was such an interesting thing at this time in her life.

To play like, not famous. I guess not famous and like this sort of a little more sweet and naive, especially like I'm jumping ahead into spoilers for the future episodes, but she's kind of very wholesome with her sexuality. I'll just like leave it at that. And this is like right in the midst of Poison Ivy gun crazy doppelganger Amy Fisher story bad girls like so it is actually very like refreshing that she's doing this kind of role role that she would be much more known for later on. This type of sweet, wholesome character.

But at this time, that was like unique. Yeah, for her to not just be like the sex symbol, like she of course is beautiful, but her like, yeah, her personality is very much like Midwestern. Yes. Yeah, she's being a little bit, you know. Yeah, and she kind of speaks to Arsenio Hall. Again. This is the same appearance that we referenced in our last episode. But he does ask her in this one if TV is ready for her. And I really like her response here.

You know, somebody asked me that before and the question really confused me. I think that for me, because I'm very expressive and somewhat controversial, or at least controversy surrounds my life. I don't know how the television audience is going to take to me. I think since my character is, is this very pure, beautiful soul that I, I think that, you know, audiences really base you on your characters. So I think that people are really going to love my character. You know, whether on how well or not I play her is, you know, is up to them.

But I think that they're really going to like me in the show because it's, it's very different than the characters I've been playing lately. And it's, you know, it's different than the persona that people perceive me as. Pretty cool. Yep, it is really cool. So now let's get into Joel talking about Drew. So a little bit of like gushing and like storytelling here. Yeah, and these are all from different sources, which I like. Love that I kept finding me. Yes, I love it and thank you for doing all that like, you know, digging.

My favorite thing to do. Ashley is an archaeologist. OK, so one of the quotes. Drew knows how she feels about everything. She's a total professional. She comes to work ready. She knows every line of dialogue. She has a facility to move in and out of emotions very quickly. All of her emotions are very much on the surface, which is surprising for someone with her background. You'd think she'd have buried everything, and she hasn't. So true. So true and so good. Yes. He also said that Drew is one of the most naturally gifted actresses I've ever worked with.

Sure, she's 17 and distracted by her boyfriend, but she doesn't miss a beat. She gets every nuance. She's much more talented than she realizes. And then this is my favorite. OK. And I think if I was understanding, he actually told this like while on the set of 2000 Malibu Rd. which is pretty cool. Oh, that is cool. So here he is again, he said. Drew. Drew is so smart. Reckless, too. From birth. I used to see her in dance clubs with her mother when she was 8. She had to live with it. She's very mature now.

She knows what she wants every second, but she's reckless. She's wild. I mean, she comes from the Barrymore tradition of bohemian artists. They pose nude, drove paint cars to shock people. Drew has that spirit. I can see her dancing at a Gatsby party, painting her body. Not because she's an empty headed party animal, but because she's so brilliant. She gets bored. She needs simulation, so she shocks people. But you never forget she's a natural actress. I mean she can play natural. Oh, so many little Nuggets in there.

I love, like, the Gatsby party and painting her body and then the sort of like, again. It dovetails so beautifully with our last episode. She needs stimulation, so she shocks people. Like posing nude on the cover of Interview magazine at 17 years old. Yeah, it makes sense. Yep, it does make sense. It does make sense. Why her path LED her where it LED her. Yeah, and RIP Joel. I wish. Imagine if he was still with us. And it just seems like he was such a positive force in her life. She's always had the best things to say about him and I just appreciate one more adult who was looking out for her.

Totally, totally. There are, there are many, thankfully. OK. So another fun thing about doing this research for this episode is I was really able to. I feel like I could pin down the timeline of this better than I ever have before. Cool. So Drew's attachment to the show was announced in May 1992, but based on her hair, I'm pretty sure it was filmed in June and July and maybe even into August of 1992. Her hair in that Arsenio appearance from July 2nd matches her hair in the show I like to AT. Like it almost looks like she walked off the.

Set. Yeah. And then you got to think. So the promo photos for the show, if you guys aren't familiar, it's the cast on the beach. But Drew has her short brown, Auburn April May 1992 hair. And for some reason, I always kind of used to just think it was one of those things where they filmed the show and then way later they came back into the promo photos because that happens a lot. And so her hair is different. But I think we have it backwards and they probably did the promo photos like right after they confirmed the cast before they even filmed, which is so weird.

That it is strange, but it maybe that's the way TV was where it's like you're going to be promoting it like with like, yeah. True I. Don't know much. Faster turn around time. I don't know. And it's also just wild to me that they're like, OK, she's going to have this short blonde curly hair in the show, but it's. OK, that it's not there yet. And the promo and it like feels like a different it. It feels like a different person. Yeah. Like, yeah, it doesn't feel. Yeah, it's very funny. It's one of those things that's always bothered me.

I'm like, I want them to match, but whatever. So it felt really cool to know that, okay, she did that first. That also tells me that when she did the interview magazine interview. Yeah. Because that was at the time that she had that short dark hair. And she's talking about what happens in the show. They haven't even filmed yet. So she's really going off of like the script or what has been pitched to her. And that sort of makes a little more sense because we're going. I don't think that ever happens in the show, Drew.

Yeah, yeah, like we definitely. I mean, I shouldn't say definitely. I haven't seen. I don't think the later episodes, later episodes are meaning like 345, but I don't think that her sister becomes the most famous agent in Hollywood. And I just I don't think they like see that part. But it's it is kind of cool like to pin like you. We pin like you said, you pinpointed the moment because of all these like little pieces, those puzzle pieces. Love it. Yeah. And then again, that's like such a fast turn around time.

Like I'm always amazed when she does a project that's like films and comes out boom, boom. TV is a whole nother animal. We haven't like gone into TV the way we have with films because of her filmography. So it's just like, wow, like they were the episodes are coming out like right away. Yeah. And also, like, I'm just thinking about the fact that Drew hasn't done, like, movies with a whole lot of, like, effects, you know, So like, yeah, they don't have to have like, imagine if you look in a Marvel film, it'd probably be like, true, find out she's filming it.

And then I don't know. Anyway, are you telling me the doppelganger webbed fingers didn't count as special effects? For you, that was practical. It was already. That's true it. Was done on set. That's. Very true. OK, I guess we can get into the release of the show now. So we are talking about a show that debuted on August 23rd of 1992 and it debuted as a 2 hour long movie. So episodes one and two were basically just like no. Stop back-to-back smushed. Yeah, it's kind of strange, actually. Like I, you told me that and I'd forgotten that.

Then I pulled it up. I was like an hour and a half like, Oh my God, without the commercials and everything. Yeah, so the rest of the episodes aired on Wednesdays over the next 4 weeks, with the final one airing on September 16th. So it really just was like a blip. Yeah, and it was really like a summertime, like it was summertime programming. And then I think the idea was fall would happen and they'd be renewed and have like, you know, a full season. But unfortunately, instead there was early cancellation.

Drew was asked about it in Movie Line 1994, which we have a whole episode about. Like the author Stephen Robello was like, oh, I was really bummed about it or something like that, she said. It was just our first season, you know, You can't imagine all the good stuff we were going to get into, like the Chanel glows, maybe. I mean unless we see them in episode 6 that we maybe haven't seen yet. It's not spoiler. It's not. Also, cast member Lisa Hartman Black said that it was a really expensive show and Aaron Spelling was essentially competing with himself because Melrose Place was airing in the same time slot.

So, and I think kind of wild, supposedly, I know and supposedly like Fox, which was Mellor's place, was maybe a little more easy, maybe more willing to do the budget than CBS. So it was mostly a cost thing and then after it was rumored for a while that Aaron Spelling was trying to get Drew on to 90210 to kind of like revitalize it. I think it was probably right before they added Tiffany Amber Thiessen instead. Oh. Yeah, so how? Weird. I know that could have been Drew. I was going to say that it would have been one of those things that could have like veered her career in a direction.

Such a different. Direction that would have been, I mean at that point was it like established or was 90210 kind? Of new at that time, No, it had already been on for several years. Yeah. OK, that's what I thought. Because we know that, like, did Drew like, love that show? Yes. I mean, she liked Melrose Place more, but yeah. She's like the. 90210 Melrose Place. Back-to-back night thing, Yeah. Was it Melrose Place that she talked about like having like somebody or? Something. Yeah. Then they would have like all her girlfriends would come over and watch it.

Yeah, she was very into it. That's so cute. Which like kind of explains why she might have been drawn to this. It's very similar vibes, right? Like, is there in spelling? It's dramatic. It's nighttime soap opera. So like. I was just going to say one more thing about it because have you watched like the original Twin Peaks? Yes. OK. So like when I was watching it, I like, you know, knew it was David Lynch, but I was also like, this hasn't like it feels like a soap opera. And then I like. Actually, the beginning, I was like, this is not the like, kooky, strange thing.

I thought I was signing up to watch, right? It feels like a soap. It was also like, I don't remember the time it was on or anything, but I was just trying to think of like, oh, that was like the early 90s. Yeah, I think it was 92. I think it was the same year as us. So it was just like kind of like thinking about like, oh, this was kind of like the feeling of a bunch of stuff on TV, including like Twin Peaks, which ended up becoming like Twin Peaks. But that's so interesting. Great observation. I don't know, 'cause there's just this style of acting that we're that we're gonna get into a little bit.

Definitely, I mean, but not just the acting, the music. Let's get into it. So episode 1 and 2, like we said, are smashed together. So we've got the opening credits. Of course saxophone is heavy, right? It's just like Poison Ivy. Like immediately you're hit with a like sexy saxophone music and you're just like, oh boy, the cheese is like pouring through the TV screen. Totally, totally. I do love that the cast is in alphabetical order so Drew comes first and then the next 4 cast members. Also I'll have last names to start with B that always like hit me.

It's like amusing for some reason. It's kind of fun when that those weird things happen, yeah. That's that's like the way my brain enjoys things. Yep Yep, totally. I like the style of the opening credits. Although once again, like super, super cheese, but like the like images, moving images, not even pictures that like come up of Drew like she looks beautiful, like it's very glamorous. Her character is the only one that's not doing a very like on the nose, This is my profession kind of thing, right?

Like everyone else has a very like obvious, this is what this character is, but she's just kind of maybe even giving herself a pedicure. She's like sitting on a bed in a robe. I'm not sure. Well, she her job is to like, stay pretty. That's that's true. That does come up a lot. Yeah, yeah. The guys are all super cheesy 90s hunks. I got term in hard air quotes and then I remembered when I first moved to Las Vegas we went to the Hard Rock Cafe. So this would have been in 94. And Brian Bloom, who plays Drew's love interest, was there.

And my mom for some reason recognized him. And she said he was from a soap opera. And I think, like, maybe she was thinking about this. So she, like, told me to, like, go up and get his autograph. So I like, had his autograph. I didn't even know who he was so stupid. But yeah, I always think like, oh, that's, it's funny. It was only like 2 years after this. That is so weird. So random, right? And also I love that your mom was like, go get his autograph. I know, give me a break. And the idea of like, yeah, like that our moms would have been, like, the ones who would have watched.

This, you know, like I actually did find something that was saying sort of like that nine O 2 and O and Melrose Place like had a younger demographic than they were sort of aiming for with this one. Like they wanted sort of like the older demographic on this. OK, interesting. Yes, of course. And then just like one more note about the opening credits, it always like cracks me up to see the like 2000 texts to like come in on the screen cuz it feels like I don't know, Almost like it's like Godzilla.

I don't know cuz it's like fills the. Screen like the Batman Forever previews. I mean opening credits and everyone's names fly across the screen. Yes. But yeah, the like typography even in the credits is just funny, including the, like name of the show. Yeah. All right. So yeah, we've got some introductory scenes that don't have Drew in them that we're not gonna. I'll guess I'll stay here. We're not really going to, like talk about the other storylines very much at all. Yeah. I mean they might like comment.

Like we'll make comments here and there, but you if you want more context, the parts we won't be talking about, watch it. It's up on YouTube, although you'll probably. Still be confused. At the beginning I was just like, what is happening? It was so confusing because we start with the sex worker, Jade, and like she has like a guy who's her client, and then he tries to drown her in the ocean, but he's like, ha, just kidding. And then like these other people come to her house, but they've been like eavesdropping on her.

It was, I was so lost. Like I have no idea what that storyline is. They introduce like a lot of stuff right there. Yeah, yeah. And you're just like, what is happening? And I also found it interesting, like, I don't know that much about sex work, but she, like, invites the clients to her house. And that just doesn't feel like the right way to go about that. Yeah, and she, you know, like takes all her calls for work, like at home it's. Yeah, yeah. She does seem to have been conducting it straight out of her house.

Doesn't seem like the safest. No safest thing we see like she gets attacked right at the beginning. Yes, clearly. And then at one point Drew appears and she's auditioning so we get to see her. I I also like this sort of like she's playing an actress auditioning. Like, we don't really get to like, when else have we seen her like play Audition? I know. I was thinking about that, too, because there's another scene and then later episode where she's, like, reading aloud from a script. And I was like, oh, this is sort of meta.

Like, this could be like how she would actually do it. Yeah, I had the exact same thought. It's a neat little peek, sort of behind the curtain. Yes, yes. And of course we recognize the necklace she's wearing. It was like cross and charm necklace that she wore all the time in 19. I need to so like she's. Wearing her own. Necklace. It sort of feels like to me that she like refused to take it off. I almost wonder if it's like from Jamie Walters cuz like she wears it in every photo shoot, every event, every like, you know, performance like this.

I guess she doesn't wear it in Doppelganger, but that that makes sense. Although her character would wear a cross. Yeah, she would. Oh, and we need to say that her character in this is named Lindsay Lindsay Rule. And this is the first Lindsay that she plays. And the other one was Lindsay and Fever Pitch, as you noticed. So love that. And we have a whole Fever Pitch episode we did not too long ago if you guys want to check that out. So, so the costume designer, the 1st 2 episodes is named Marlene Stewart, who did a lot of work with Madonna around the same time.

And there is kind of this feeling in the dresses that I guess you couldn't see, like the Madonna similarity. Especially early 90s Madonna. Totally. And then the person who's listed as the quote UN quote women's costumer is Ingrid Ferran who did Batman Forever. Amazing. She must have been like a Joel Schumacher girl. Yeah, like in his team somehow. I love that. Basically, let's just set it up so Lindsay's at this audition because she's an actress, like we said. Joy. There are 1,000,000 other girls that are prettier and more talented than I am.

They are never going to notice me. That isn't true, and besides, they don't have me. I'm going to make you the biggest name in the business. Her sister is her like manager agent, I guess, and she accompanies her everywhere. But she's also this since she's like super ambitious, but she's also supposed to be this like very woo woo witchy lady, right? And like some of the things that she refers to at certain points. I was like, this is so like commonplace these days. Like I think she talks about someone's like sign like astrology or something.

And it's supposed to be like, whoa, so out there and kooky. Yeah. But like, she doesn't come off as business like and like any of the ways that she's conducting herself and I feel. Lesses or she turban a bunch of times. She's she's very like odd character, but like like explicitly so like it's not like a secret that she's strange. And I feel like she says things that like, oh, you're not supposed to. Like she says the things you're not supposed to say out loud. Honestly, I remember being like quite annoyed with her on early viewings of this, but I was sort of living for her craziness on this watch.

She's just so out there. I think for like this sort of like soap opera ish genre, like I feel like somebody has to be a little bit like that, yeah. So true. Like the Comic Relief or something, I don't know. Yeah, I did feel like in this very first thing that Drew's acting was a little rough. It felt like, I don't know, like she was nervous or not being very natural. Yeah, or something. It did get better, like literally from there on out. And like there's a really great moments with her later on.

So I was like, Phew, OK. We didn't want to have to be like. This is this is your F. Not great. And then we get to this sort of like strange thing that just kind of comes together all at once. So the sex worker like is does she need money because she's leaving sex work? Is that why? Okay, so she decides to get roommates and like this all just like comes together so like beautifully. It's not really believable in any way. Even she even goes wow that was really easy. Yeah, exactly. She's like, huh?

So like Jennifer Beals, the lawyer shows up at the same time that Lindsay and Joy, they show up like at the same time and are walking around and then they just decide like they'll all just move into the 2 rooms and it's fine. The sister Joy is like Oh no we can share. And there's like, really like weird about it, like. Yeah, she's very, very, very weirdly attached to Lindsay, her sister. Like, that'll come up a bunch of times. And yeah, I guess that's the first sign of where she's like, oh, we'll share a room.

Honey Bunny jumping the gun with the honey Bunny. I guess she doesn't say it there. You're ready to get into it. OK, so we get a scene where Lindsay's walking down the beach and it's so cute because like a dog comes up to her. And this is very like, natural, true to me, of course, how she's interacting with the dog. I loved this little part. It's really cute.

Hello. Hi.

Hello. Hi, I'm sorry, it's OK. And then of course, the owner of the dog happens to be a hunk. Of course. Don't dogs usually lead to hunks? I mean.

And the hunk is Brian Bloom, you know, my buddy from the Hard Rock. So so that's fun. I did like him in this I have to say. Like as cheesy as he looks like, I thought he brought like a nice believability to a character that could have been really like I Rolly. Yeah, the act, the acting was good. You're right, It could have been a lot like cheesier. Yeah, for sure. He invites her to meet his parents right away, which is super weird cuz he's a movie. Oh, his parents are movie producers. Of course, you know, we can't forget to mention that.

So he invites her to meet them and have his mom's famous chili. And something about this scene in the way that she's talking, I was like, what is this reminding me of? And it was giving me, like, mad love. And I think it's when they're in line for the concert, and she's like, kind of got this little attitude thing going on. Yeah. Yeah. Are you sure? Well, I've never had famous chili before. Good. OK. All right. Formal introductions. I'm Eric. I'm Lindsay, OK. Hi. Hi and my dog is Ally. Really soon afterward, there's like another very mad love.

Like, I think it's totally that like snarkiness at the concert in Mad Love that it's like coming across. For something like a little sarcastic, yeah.

And then I guess she meets his parents, but we don't get to see that. Yeah, it's all just like implied. It's yeah, it's very implied. And then we probably move on to other scenes with the lawyer and the sex worker. But then we get back and the girls are all having breakfast in the kitchen together. And Drew's wearing a red sleeveless top. And in the last scene, she was wearing a red sleeveless top. And I was like, is this a continuity issue? Like was this the same day and they forgot? But it's like actually different shirts.

They just look really similar. That's funny, I I don't feel like Drew generally wears a lot of red. No, and she wears like a red dress later on, or red and white. But yeah, a lot of red for her, which is kind of fun. That is fun, yeah. Maybe it's should give her that like blonde bombshell vibe. Yeah, maybe. Yeah. I did not love that. Of course, it's the 90s, so we have to have some fat phobia and some food shaming. Of course the sister says something about like, oh, I was just in here getting a snack.

And everyone gives her a look like, oh, come on. And she, you know, like, oh, just kidding. Of course it was like a three course meal or whatever it is. She says. I'm like why? Yeah, of course, though of course though. And then like there is another moment later where like I don't know if she's referring to herself as the fat sister or I don't know what it is she. Fully does, she says. Oh, I'm just the fat sister or something like that. And it's like, so ridiculous. Yep. And then the ongoing thing that you've mentioned, the honey Bunny, it starts coming up here.

I, I couldn't help but notice that like after she calls her honey Bunny, like for the first time that we see, she says like almost immediately after, like when Lindsay's trying to like leave to go to the guy's house again. Honey Bunny, Are you sure you don't want me to go with you? Yeah, oh, yeah. She's she's like right up in her business. Honey Bunny and honey Bunny comes forever. Everybody's honey Bunny. It's her way of I guess trying to be like cutesy and it's. Just I guess it's like really somebody's sweetie?

Like, yeah, I don't I don't understand why other people get that name. It doesn't doesn't make sense either way. And then she continues to be wild because Lindsay gets offered a part in the movie that these parents are producing. Of course, yes. Basically this show is an ongoing thing for Drew's character of getting a job, getting fired, getting a job, getting fired, getting job. Because, like, it happens throughout all the episodes. So this is the first time she's getting a job, but of course the crazy sister is going to try to talk her out of it because they have to go film in Toronto and this boy would be going and, you know, just, it wouldn't work out.

Honey Bunny. They gave me a part in their new movie. The Adlers, are you serious? It's not a big part, just a small part, a handful of lines. But I'm in a lot of scenes and it's two weeks work on location in Toronto. Oh, sweetheart, this is the middle of pilot season. 2 weeks in Toronto and you'll be out of the running for all the new TV series. Yeah, but this is a job. This is real work. As an actress, I can get my SAG card in some bit part that'll play in an art house for a week, then you'll be back at square 1.

Yeah, I mean, we'll get into this more how much she like Joy goes and sabotages this. So if you, if you've seen this, you'll just like hear how absolutely nuts this like next part is. So yeah, I guess we have to get into the fact that, like, there's a body on the beach. The murder that brings the three women together. So the botany on the beach is like one of the people who tried to attack Jade in the first beginning scenes, and she's just dead on the beach. And like, all these people are just standing around looking at her.

I was like, are we gonna secure the scene? Cops? Like what is? Yeah, the cops just like standing around and. He's like does anyone know who this is? He literally asks that. I feel like Joy says something to like. At least the cops here are handsome too. Or like something like that, like. Oh yeah, she's like horny the entire show, by the way. Yeah, it put another layer on her. Yeah, it yeah, the the lack complete lack of like any securing of the scene is really funny. It kills me and there's also a dead seagull.

I don't know if that was collateral damage or just happened to also be there. I was like, what is that? And our kooky sister takes a feather from the dead seagull so she can go do something witchy with it. Of course she doesn't. She doesn't even need to because she she just sabotages it with her crazy, crazy lies. Like she's not relying on her witchiness. No, no. So yeah, she like lays the feathers down in an XI think that's like, is that right before she goes and like. It's like outside their house.

Yeah, so like, I don't even remember the lies. So she's basically like our parents both died. Like maybe one of them died by suicide. But it was in the snow, so that's why Lindsay can't go to Toronto, because it will be snowing. Oh. Because she because that one of the parents shot themselves and there was blood everywhere and Lindsey had to go to. A. An institution. Right. So like they're like basically like being convinced somehow is not believable at. All this is and it also don't bring it up to Lindsey like we can't tell her that she's not stable, so don't talk about it.

And it really, as far as I could tell, never gets brought up again. Right. The the boyfriend guy is there and he never says like hey your sister told me some crazy things. I know I noticed that but that then results in he's basically she's there to convince them like fire her off the show. For her own good. For her own good. I did love that. I pulled the LA Times review, and one thing they wrote is Joy is so obviously wacky and insincere that her abilities to escape detection is simply a laugh. And I was like, yeah, accurate.

But everything is very like, almost like silent film intentional, you know, like I almost feel like, like her going to get the feather was very like, I don't know, clown like about her. Yeah. And I guess we're talking about this as it's part of the draw. Yeah, yeah, you got to be here for this craziness. Yes, and then we get a cute scene of like, is this after she gets fired? She seems like no. She's not fired yet, but this comes right after because it's like, oh, she just told the story about how their parents were both dead, but who's who's Lindsay talking to on the phone?

Yeah. Their mom, who's not dead. Right, right. Yes. And I do love when the honey Bunny grabs the phone. She says hi mom. After she just made-up this like wild lie about her like shooting herself and. Yeah, I did love this little moment. And I know this is like an early 90s thing, but Lindsay is using a white cordless phone. And I started thinking there's like the white cordless phone is sort of to the yellow car in Drew's filmography where it just comes up a lot. So right off the top of my head, I was like Poison Ivy boys on the side, bad love.

And of course the cordless phone scream. Right, right. And then this too. I just thought that was sort of fun. That's fun. It'd probably be like kind of wild to to collect like all of the times we see her on a cordless phone. OK, I have a mission. I bet there's an Amy Fisher, too. I'm gonna look for it. I'm going to work on this project. Probably is This is the point where I made a note like, wait, she calls everyone honey Bunny? Like I it's it's jarring. It is jarring and hilarious every time. OK, so there is a point in this episode where Drew's character is like kind of calling Eric out for lying to her about like the reason that she's not going to do the show.

So since we offered it to her first. You're lying, aren't you? You know, my sister warned me that something like this could happen for men like you. It's just kind of power trip of a women. Oh, no, Lindsay, come on. It's not like that at all. I really do like you. As a matter of fact, I'd like to make it up to you. You want to go do a screening with me tonight? It wasn't that cute. You tangle the brass ring in front of me, and then you snatch it away and smile and say you want to go to the movies.

Lindsay, I mean it. I swear to you. Eric, just forget it, OK? Just leave me alone. And there was a point in the, in the interview magazine that we went through where she said in my show that my boyfriend does something that's not even really wrong, but I tell him that I'm not prepared to accept it. So like I, I do think that you're right that it's very possible. That this is the scene. Yeah, where she's like completely calling him out. Yeah, which is cool. Yeah, and just. Another red top I just realized.

Yeah, she is. But you're right. Like I, I was kind of hoping that at this point when she tells him like you're lying, but he would be like, well, your sister, you know, like, yes, come on, like say something. But maybe he was scared of the sister. I mean, she really made it sound like it was pretty tragic, yeah. And then Jade tells Joy she chose everybody. Hey, just a reminder, my room's off limits and don't answer my phone. I'm like, well, we all know what Joy's about to go do now. Yes. Go through her room, answer her phone.

Exactly that, exactly that. And then answers the phone and then finds out pretty quickly that it's a client calling. So somebody who like assumes that Jade is still in the business because she was like 2 days. Prior true it's. Kind of funny because it's like she's like making like, not a big deal, but she like mentions a couple times that she's like leaving the business or retiring or whatever she says yeah, anyway. And it's just like, yeah, except for last week, it was still happening. But then this is followed by this unfortunate interaction.

So Joy, I don't even know what she says she's going to do. She makes some deals. Flirting with this guy. Right on the phone and convinces him to come to the house and I don't know. And then he walks in and the first person he sees is Drew and forces himself on her. It's really like it's intense and like it's, I mean, thankfully it doesn't actually like result in, I don't know, it could be worse. It doesn't go too far, but it's still very uncomfortable. And I saw it was like in some of the TV spots even where I was like, no, no, no, no, no.

It's aggressive and. Yucky and. Yeah, and then later Jade acts like it's not really a big deal 'cause he's a very successful businessman. And I was just like. And points out that there are like lots of women after him. Oh bad. No, we don't like that. No, no. And the conversation is, of course, happening while Joy has like crawled into Jade's bed and is is giving her a massage that she says it's like acupressure for her headaches. She's like, I hate to see you like this, right? But it's also like.

She's crazy. I didn't like feel like Jade would have accepted her just crawling into her bed. Oh, yeah, she needed, she needed a little. Yeah, I don't know. Oh boy, all these scenes with her. But like I said, it was entertaining me. I can't. Lie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It was. It was entertaining. Yeah, I mean, even the next scene is her again where she goes to blackmail this businessman because she saw that his license plate said Network 1. So she like found out he works for some big TV network and she goes over to basically blackmail him about his attempted rape or whatever they want to call it.

That's what she calls herself, the fat sister, and she's so crazy in the scene. She is so crazy in the scene. I don't remember what lines I was talking about being cheesy. All of her lines I guess. It's pretty bad. I mean, she's like trying to like make a deal with him. And then she's like, oh, you know, maybe we could get together. And he and he literally says, I think I'm gonna puke. Yeah, he does. So rude, that is. So rude. Yeah. Yeah. And we haven't really talked that much about Jennifer Beal's character.

So she's a lawyer and her husband has, like, recently passed away. And I feel like she's probably doing like the most real life solid acting out of everybody. Like she's really good in it. But I, I kind of just found her whole thing a little boring. I don't know, maybe because the other stuff is so like over the top that hers feels a little subdued, but she's doing a great job. So I just wanted to kind of say that like, she's really good in it. She is really good in it. And I actually really like this next part with her where they're all kind of laying by the pool.

It's funny because of the beginning, Jade is like, we're not going to be like roommates that hang out together. Like we're going to live our separate lives. But then they're all like, doing stuff. Together, buddy. Together, yeah. So they're all laying by the pool. And of course, joy, like let's it slip about what Jade does for a profession she totally doesn't on purpose. And I love that Perry, like, just doesn't give a crap. Like, she's just kind of like, I don't know, takes a lot more than that to shock me.

Yeah, I love that. I think she does say it's like hard to shock me anymore or something like. That, Yeah. But our girl Drew is not feeling that same way. She's pretty upset about this big confession and she like runs off and she says I'm living in a whore house, which is a little extreme. Look, I don't mean to be a judge mental proof, but you're the one who's always so concerned with my image. I mean, what if I do get this TV series and some journalist finds out I'm living in a whore house? You know, I guess we did just have this like moment where she's basically being sexually assaulted because of the fact that true.

I mean, you know, it's all correlated, but yeah, the I'm living in a whore house is a little, she kind of is talking about like press finding out that she lives in a whore house or something. That's right. How her image? Yes. True, yes, Yeah. So we get next the audition, quote unquotes, where basically these TV execs are like just gonna, they're auditioning somebody for the part. And this network, one guy, his name is Scott, he's already decided that Lindsay's going to get the part because of the blackmail.

But I love that he holds up a headshot of her. And it's of course, a real photo of Drew from a real shoot. And it was by Lance Steedler for details, March 1992. And it also was her fan mail reply photo for a little while. So like if you sent her fan mail, you would get like a postcard of that picture back and one of us has it from Rob. Like I was looking at him like, oh, that was Rob's. That's hilarious. It's. Cool because I I wonder I can't remember if it has a stamp on it but I feel like it was from like oh is it?

From 94, I was going to say. I feel like it was from 94, so that's that's cool to think of. Like I don't know if I'm using like probably what was actually her headshot at the. Time or like her default photo that she liked to use for things. Yeah. And it is a beautiful one. It's actually one of the most beautiful ones from that shoot because some of those ones are I'm not that cute and I like this one a lot. It is really cute. I do love the network people's faces when because instead of Lindsay coming in, Joy comes in first and their faces are all just like they definitely get the vibes of she's a weirdo.

Yeah, I don't even remember what she says, but it's something about like making a deal before they before they meet her or like I feel like there's even like a leaning on the desk and like a looking over her glasses moment that happens and they're like who what is what is happening right now? This weird lady in her robes and turban? Yep. But of course Lindsay gets the part. So here we go again. She's been hired, fired, now she's got a new job hired, and she's so cute and excited when she finds out that she got the part.

I loved it. Yeah, there's like kind of a squeal. And I swear the like expression she makes is almost like Josie Grosser level excitement. Like I felt like that was like a genuine, like, felt like actually her coming out of it. Yeah. Oh, I love that. And then the police show up and Jade is getting busted. Well, Lindsay said great, she's going to get busted for hooking, but actually they're there to arrest her for murder. This is the murder that brings them all together. You know, you know how murders bring people together, You know, and then we've got a whole bunch of, like, other storyline stuff.

Yeah, unrelated to Drew. We won't get into it. Enjoy if you watch.

So we get Lindsay going to the studio for her wardrobe fitting and this is a cute scene. I wonder which studio this is? Did you have any feeling about that? I did it's. Definitely a real like back lot. I wasn't like paying attention to get a sense, but I do like when you can like feel like, Oh yeah, if you've been to a back lot. Right. I mean, it's probably CBS since it was Acbs show probably even think about that's funny. It could be like where she's filming Hollywood Squares. That's really funny.

But so, yeah, she's there and she runs into our beach hunk Eric, which I'm like, of course, like, what are the odds, you know? And again, this is the other part where the way that she's kind of being a little sarcastic and snarky with them feels very mad. Love concert line. Yeah, I can totally hear it. Lindsay, hi. Hey, Eric. How you doing? You look great. Listen, I'd love to talk to you right now, but I've got an appointment and wardrobe. And mad love. If you want to go on a date, you're going to have to ask me.

Because yes, totally. It's it's that like, sarcastic annoyed. Sort of like I'm not buying your shit. Totally. And there's, I was just going to say, there's a really nice shot of her profile because I'm staring at it. Well, there's something about the way her, her face here was looking. I didn't quite capture it, but it was very much like when she was a little girl. Like, it was weird. Like, she's so in between right now where you can feel the little girl stuffing and feel the slightly older stuff.

I love it. Yeah. And so she goes to the wardrobe fitting and the lady who's doing it is so rude. She's like and the whole time has been there forever and she's like back my day. The girl's waist was so thin or. Something it's like is also tiny. Like I feel like the insinuation is that she miniature is not, you know, tiny waisted. So rude. Yeah, it's gross. And then before we know it, the lady gets a call and let this tell this girl to get off the lot because she's been fired. She's lost another job.

Did they even explain? So it's a little confusing because the next scene is like that Scott guy and he's gotten fired because they assumed that she was his bimbo, so he got fired for that. That's right.

That's right. That's really sad like that. She just goes through these ups and downs the whole time. And even with the guy, Eric, it's like, I like you, I don't trust you. And then I see you and I like you and then I'm not sure about you. And then we're together and then we're not sure. It's like just flip flopping with everything the whole time. Yep. So then we get to a scene where Lindsay and Eric are on the beach and I feel like Drew looks especially pretty in this scene. Like. Yes, me too. I don't know.

Maybe it's because she's not in the red anymore? No, I don't know. It could be that her hair is a little more relaxed. Yeah. It doesn't have those, like, kind of silly curls that she wears a lot. It's her more like natural. It's a very, again, to just keep referencing Mad Love, but her hair's a little shaggier and she's wearing like, baggy pants and like, a button up shirt. And it was definitely giving me Casey Roberts vibes. Absolutely. I can see that too. But I was just kind of like a little bit entranced by her pretty face in this scene.

This isn't the first time either. I noticed in a later episode where her hair, the continuity of her hair, and what's supposed to be like a couple hours apart has totally changed because in the next scene her hair is like way more curled again. Oops oops. So her sister comes over and she's a total biotch. You're the pretty 1, so let me be the smart one. She's always trying to tell her like, why are you trying to think like that's not what you're getting? Yeah, and I love that while Joy is saying this to Drews character, like she looks like she's like tired of her shit.

She's like making a face. Yeah, it's like finally. Like almost like. I mean, she has to know that her sister is over the top, but yeah, she I. Think at first she's like very passive and she's like, well, I owe her everything and I'm just going to let her direct my life and whatever she want tells me to do, I'm going to do. And like, this is probably the first moment where she's just like, like, I don't like this. Yeah. So that's kind of where we wrap up with Drew. And it's because Eric like, gave her a script and she it's about homelessness.

And that's what she's telling Joy. Like this is a really important project. I want to do this. And that's when she's like, you don't know what you're talking about, Honey Bunny. So we get some more scenes at the end without Drew. There's like a cop that kind of can sense that something's going on with Jade's case. That's not like normal or above board. And I kind of like that like storyline that's sort of fun. And then we pretty much end, I guess, with Honey Bunny is just he's obsessed with the Scott guy.

She's like spying on him while he's with another woman, right? Yeah, it's pretty creepy. She like comes up on the backside of his house and it's just like looking like on the side of like a big pole, like kind of. I like how they show her like peeking around. So ominous. If he looked up, he would see her, yeah. She wouldn't even care. She'd probably wave at him. I I really wonder how the joy character like was on the page versus what like this actress brought to her. Cuz she's definitely, I, I wasn't gonna like go too into it, but she's definitely a little out there.

Like I've seen her Instagram and like, OK, you can, you can just tell. She even tried to say like recently that Paramount Plus was putting this up like, no, girl, no, they're not.

So she's a little out there. I think there's a little bit of herself in this character. Tuesday night. Hopefully you don't listen to this. I enjoyed your performance if you do.

We, yes, we enjoyed it. A certain type of enjoyment. Yes, a very specific kind. And then I guess the final scene is just jaded jail with this like other woman harassing her, like oh, you a you a hookah went to college. That's right, 'cause she like uses some word to describe like, I don't know, she uses some kind of big word. And it's definitely like a perfect ending for this kind of show. Like the slammer. Yeah, the shadows. Yep. So guys, we are gonna have fun with the next couple of episodes with these, with these hilarious 2000 Malibu Rd.

episodes. I mean, yeah, this short lived thing makes it like a blip, but it also is like perfect. I know. I mean, it really is wild when you think about how like quickly this all came together, like announced, filmed, cancelled, like boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. Like it's such a short time. And I was really like tripping out the other day just thinking about 9293, the releases that Drew had. It's literally Poison Ivy going crazy. Amy Fisher's story. No, this Amy Fisher's story. Doppelganger. Oh, a sketch artist is in there too.

Like all of that in one year? There's just like so much work. That's just crazy. Wow, those were the days, guys. Yeah. So here's the first of this series that is sort of a continuation of this sort of Joel Schumacher. No, I kind of love. It 1992. All of our episodes lately have like, fed into each other.
